Propagating Amaryllis?

I "rescued" a dried up dead bulb from Lowe's(they were gonna throw it away because it looked dead) 2 years later it finally bloomed, flower faded and what looks like a seed sac, formed behind where the flower was. I'm assuming seeds but I've never heard of them seeding. Should I crack it open and look for seeds, break it off and plant it, break it off and try to propagate in water or is it a lost cause?
