1990 polaris trail boss- need a thousand problems fixed... but if you can help me start it thatd be cool.?

Alright i just got what i think is a 1990 trail boss (i know its polarris between '85 and '95)... it was one of those deals of "if you think you can make it run, its all yours". So i towed it home and started putzing around with it. So he told me the electric start went bad, but it used to pull over with the recoil before it stoped running. He also said he has trouble getting much of any spark out of it. So its sitting in my driveway and i tried to pull it over with the pull start just to see what it does. I couldnt get it to pull over compression. It just wouldnt budge. So i pushed it down a steep hill then through it in gear hoping it would free it up a little. Didnt budge the slightest. Can anyone help with what might be wrong? and any other tips on this machine?
